Beautiful Kefalonia towns are old towns in the island. Renovation ran in some beautiful towns in Kefallonia Island to keep the essence of the past and to coup with the new lifestyle in those beautiful towns.

The beautiful Town of Argostoli is the capital of Kefalonia Island and the seat of Municipality of Argostoli or Argostolion. It is one of the most beautiful Kefalonia Towns.

It lies in area curved from the island to make small peninsula that stretches on Argostoli Bay, almost at the central western coast, with a causeway, built by the British, separating it from Koutavos Lagoon and connecting it to the island.

The causeway at the western side faces the end of the Peninsula of Paliki. There are more than 9,100 inhabitants in the beautiful town of Argostoli. The main locations in the town or the town itself stretch along Argostoli Bay and Koutavos Lagoon at the south of it. A narrow causeway goes between the bay and the lagoon. After the earthquake in 1953, the town lost many of its Venetian features and is now a new town with many modern beautiful architecture and new infrastructure.

Antoni Tritsi or Leoforos Antoniou Tritsi, the waterfront street stretches north to south along the coastline. Two blocks at the back of it is the pedestrian street of Lithostrotou. Many branches or sub-ways link the streets and go to the centre of the beautiful Town of Argostoli.

The harbour street meets at the south with Argostoliou Porou Samis Street and it runs to the east as Argostoliou Katochoriou and to the south as Argostoliou Mazarakaton Street. Few metres at the back of it, Georgiou Vergoti Street or Leoforos G. Vergoti stretches parallel to it from the Ionian Plaza and the name of Argostoliou Porou Samis at the south.

Behind it is Ilia Zervou, which takes the name of Ipatias Destouni (Pan Harokopou in some maps) at the north part of it and the name of (Germanou Kalliga in some maps) at the south part of it. However, it has no straight south part, as conjunction of sub-ways meet there.

At the back of it are many streets, which take different names when they turn north and south. At the far distance behind the centre of the town is Fanariou Theodoron Street.

This street runs along the western coast of the town from the south to the north and turns to the eastern cost of the town to continue as Gerasimou Foka and then Rizospaston Vas Georgiou, which is parallel to the Leoforos Antoniou Tritsi. Many of the population gather at the evenings in the Plaza, the main square in the beautiful town of Argostoli. At the north of the waterfront is the main ferry quay in the Island of Kefallonia and the bus station is at the south of it.

Palm trees, plants and flowers colour cover the central square of the town and the way along the waterfronts and the other places near it and beside 21 Maiou Street. Some alleyways run across the important places in the town, such as Lithostrotou lined with shops and end at Antoni Tristi, known in the past as Ioannou Metaxa.

There is a post office on Lithostrotou and banks with ATMs. The airport is about 9.4 kilometres south of Argostoli Town. As, other capitals in the beautiful Greek Islands, Argostoli has many museums. The nearest largest beaches of Platys Gialos or Platis Gialos and Makrys Gialos or Makris Gialos are about 5.4 kilometres south of the town. The two beaches are near the village of Lassi. The beautiful Town of Lixouri is the capital of the Lixourion Peninsula or Paliki Peninsula and the seat of the Municipality of Paliki. It is one the beautiful Kefalonia Towns. Lixouri is the second large populated town in the Island of Kefalonia. It lies on the eastern coast of the peninsula at the northwest of Argostoli. It is a fishing village and a port that links by ferries to Argostoli and Kyllini, the port and the seat of the Municipality of Kastro Kyllinis in western Greece.

The ferries run every hour to Argostoli and it takes about 53 minutes on the sea. Lixouri is at the southwest, about 13 kilometres from the recent Paliki Town and it takes about 17 minutes drive.

The new town is on the place of the ancient Town of Paliki or Pali. The earthquakes in January 1867 and August 1953 had destroyed the old town and the Pali people rebuilt it in the suburb of the ancient city as Lixouri Town.

Sikouanas Stream divides the town into two parts. Narrow streets and pass ways end at the small square of the beautiful Town of Lixouri and the locals gather and spend the evenings on this square.

The ancient town rebuilt in the place near of Paleokastro or Pali. Mountains surround the town. There are some beautiful beaches near the town such as Xi Beach, Lededa Beach and Lakkos Beach. See Beautiful Cephalonia Beaches.
