Kos Historical Sites!
Kos Historical Sites make the tourists' attractions in Kos Island. They include the archaeological sites. The Archaeological Museum is in the old part of the town of Kos on Plateia Eleftherias.
There is a mosaic from the 3rd century in the vestibule of the museum in addition to the statue of Hippocrates.
At the south of the Knights' Castle is the ancient agora, which is an open site among Kos Historical Sites. Some reconstructed columns from the 3rd century BC are at the western side of the agora. The ruins of the Shrine of Aphrodite, Temple of Hercules and the 5th-century Christian Basilica are on the north side of the agora.

The way across this area to the north leads to other Kos Historical Sites in Plateia Platanou with its cobble stone structural appearance. A tree called Hippocrates Plane Tree is there. Hippocrates taught his students under this tree, although the plane trees do not live for many hundreds of years.

The tree was magnificent in the past, but it is now symbolizing the old tree with scaffolding keeping it up. Down from the tree is a Turkish fountain that was once an old sarcophagus.
The Mosque of Ghazi Hassan Pasha is one of Kos Historical Sites! It is at the opposite direction from the plane tree, with its ground floor occupied by souvenir shops. There is a bridge in Plateia Platanou leads to Finikon or the Ave of Palms and the Castle of the Knights. The castle is from the 14th century.
The earthquake destroyed many parts of it in 1495. They restored it during the 16th century. The excavation site at the west of the town has wooden shelters at the back to protect the mosaics of the House of Europe, a site from the 3rd century.

At the front of this area is one of Kos Historical Sites, they call the Decumanus Maximus, which was the main thoroughfare of the ancient Roman city and it runs parallel to the modern constructed street. This thoroughfare turns right to the nymphaeum with its latrines and the xysto, which is a gymnasium from the Hellenistic period with its restored columns.
The restored odeion from the 3rd century is also one of Kos Historical Sites! It is at the opposite direction of Grigoriou. The Temple of Dionysos with its ruins is one of Kos Historical Sites and it is at a short distance from this area.
