The beautiful Makris Gialos Beach is at the north of Alykanas and at the south of Aghios Nikolaos and Korithi. It is exactly at the east of Volimes the seat of Elaties Municipality, the most northern municipality in Zakinthos Island. See Zante Municipalities.

This is a white pebbles, clear water and sandy beach with sun beds and umbrellas. The beach has turquoise water and caves where the water runs under the heights. It offers good views on the sea and the surroundings between two sides of high lands.

There are several tavernas offering their services on the beach and few metres from the beach are some excursion companies offering excursions to the Blue Caves, the Shipwreck Beach or Navagio Beach and the smugglers cove. Other businesses offer beach parties and natural healing services.

The Blue Caves are just ahead north of Agios Nikolaos near of Cape Skinari at the tip north of the island. Aghios Nikolaos has a small port from which excursion boats head in sea trips to explore the area and boats arrive from Pesada in Kefalonia.

Everything under the water takes degrees to become blue. The rich geological feature of landscape and the white rocks make this area beautiful. Beautiful blue water from the deep sea becomes turquoise at the caves.

The beautiful Navagio Beach or the Shipwreck Beach is one of the beautiful beaches in Zakynthos. It is a huge sandy and blue water beach marked by the shipwreck on the beach and curved between white and brown cliffs.

Navagio Beach is at the northwestern coast, west of Volimes Town, the seat of the Municipality of Elatia in the interior and is about 4.1 kilometres at the southwest of it. The beach is accessible by boats.

There are more than six beautiful beaches on the southeastern coast and the southern coast of Zakinthos. The beautiful beaches in Zakynthos start below Porto Zorro Cove in Vasilikos or Vassilikos Peninsula and continue to the south and southwest of the island of Zakynthos.

However, most of those beautiful beaches in Zakynthos are on Vassilikos Peninsula. The first beautiful beaches here are very close to Zakynthos Town, the capital city of the island.

The first settlement in the peninsula is Argassi or Argasi Town, which is about 3.5 kilometres southeast of Zakinthos Town and it takes about 6 minutes drive. The town is the centre of Zakynthos nightlife with Laganas, as there are discos and live music performances on the main roads. These arts and cultural events make it crowded in the high touristy season in summer.

The Cove of Porto Zoro or Porto Zorro Cove and the beach are about 7.3 kilometres at the southeast of Argasi and it takes about 9 minutes drive. It lies on the cost between Xirokastello at the north and Ano Vassilikos at the south.

There are some beaches in this area and in Porto Vromi, Porto Limnionas and further at Porto Roma at the southeast.

The Greek National Road 35, which runs through a rich area of pine trees, links those portos with the capital city, the villages near the coast and some villages in the interior of the south-eastern part of the island.

Porto Zoro Beach is one of the beautiful beaches in Zakynthos. It is long sandy beach with clear turquoise water and some rocks stretch into the water. There are sun beds and umbrellas along the beach. The land and the heights that touch the beach are green. The Cove of Porto Zoro is also sandy.

The beautiful Agios Nikolaos Beach is one of the beautiful beaches in Zakynthos. The beach is on the small bay below Banana Beach and before Mavratzis Beach. It is sandy beach with clear water. There are some water sports such as scuba diving at the beach.

This beach has nothing to do with Aghios Nikolaos port at the northeast of the island of Zakynthos, but except maybe that, it takes the name of Saint Nikolaos and shares the name because maybe of the Saint had tours from the north to this area in the south of Zakynthos. Mavratzis Beach and the other three beaches below it are at the southern end of Vissilikos Peninsula marked by the Royal Palace Hotel at the top on the hillside and on the way to the beach and the lemon gardens.

The beautiful Porto Roma Beach is one of the beautiful beaches in Zakynthos. It is above Cape Gerakas or Yerakas and before the Beach of Gerakas before the narrow strip that goes into the sea and on the southern edge of the small bay. Some sources say it is on the turn to the next side of the peninsula overlooking Laganas Bay.

The beach is sandy with clear water and there are some umbrellas and sun beds as well as beach bars, small kiosks and tavernas. At the side of the beach is the small Porto Roma harbour with small boats.

The area in the surrounding is covered by olive groves and the nature is rich. The narrow strip beach strips and beaches in this area get crowded in the high season. The Greek National Road 35 links Porto Roma to Zakynthos Town.
