Favourite Beautiful Towns in Samos!

There are many beautiful towns and hamlets in the Island of Samos, scattering in the Municipality of Vathy, the Municipality of Pythagoreio, the Municipality of Karlovacy and the Municipality of Marathokampos.

The interesting thing is that many beautiful towns in the beautiful islands in the Greek Aegean Sea have similar names. For example, you can find many towns in many islands that have the name Pyrgos, or Limnionas or Neochori.

Beautiful Karlovassi Town has the second biggest settlement in Samos Island, where about 5,500 residents live. Some sources say the number of population in this town is 6,000.

Logically, the town has not this great number, which exceeds the numbers of populations in Vathy, Pythagorio and some villages near them combined, but the entire settlement.

The beautiful town of Karlovassi is on the northern coast of Samos Island, about 30.5 kilometres from the capital city, Vathy and it takes about 45 minutes drive. Karlovassi Town is the second harbour at the northern coast after Vathy and the third port, after Pythagorio.

There are some beautiful buildings and the quite and beautiful Karlovassi Square is a good meeting place, where some people engage sometimes in doing arts, celebrate and perform folkloric dances.

Sea traffic operates between it and the beautiful Patmos Island, Agathonissi, Kos, the Greek Mykonos Island, Fourni, the Greek Rhodes Island, Kalymnos, the beautiful Lesvos Island, Thymena, Myrina, the beautiful Syros Island, Kavala, Agios Kirykos, the beautiful Tinos Island, Evidlos, Thessaloniki, the beautiful Chios Island and other ports as well as Vathy at the east of it in the island.

At the northwest of Pythagorio, Karlovassi beautiful town is 38.1 kilometres far and it takes 53 minutes drive. There are some beautiful beaches in Samos nearby such as Anema and Potami Beaches, few kilometres away and some beautiful hotels in Samos such as the residence of Anema, by the sea apartments nearby.

Beautiful Mytilinii Town or Mytilinioi is on a historical location on the northwest of Pythagorio and looks as being extension to the ancient town. This is not Mytilini, the capital city of the beautiful Lesvos Island and the main commercial centre. It is one of the historic towns in Samos.

The evidence of such historical fact is in the Palaeontology Museum on the main street between Vathy and Pythagorio in the beautiful village of Mytilinii. Prehistoric fauna in Mytilinii Basin comprises of skeletons and fossils of ancient cattle, which are present in the museum.

Mytilinii Town is about 11.6 kilometres southwest of the capital City of Vathy and it takes about 17 minutes drive. It is about 7 kilometres northwest of Pythagorio and it takes 9 minutes drive. It is only 5.1 north of Samos Airport and it takes about 8 minutes drive, although rarely people reach it from there.

Beautiful Kokkari Town at the northwest of Vathy on the opposite side of the coastal line of the bay is about 10.6 kilometres from Vathy and it takes about 15 minutes drive.

Green beautiful sites, pine and olive trees and some beautiful beaches lovely for windsurfers make this area naturally beautiful and one of the most tourists attraction in Samos Island. The windsurfs centre has many windsurfing activities in summer.

Three beautiful beaches in Samos are near the town and some other beaches are along the coastal line at the southeast of it. Therefore, some businesses prosper in the area in the hot tourism season.

Beautiful Kallithea Town

Beautiful Kallithea Town in the Municipality of Marathokabos at the western coast is down near Karlovassi.

However the road to it is about 35.6 kilometres from it through Leka, Kastania, Marathokabos, Ormos Marathokampou, respectively at the south of Karlovassi, then it turns west to Kampos Marathokabos, up to the northwest to Aggie Kyriaki and Kallithea, and it takes about 51 minutes drive.

Vathy at the east of it is 66.2 kilometres far and it takes one hour and 32 minutes. The distance to Pythagorio is almost the same, as it is about 58.9 kilometres and it takes one hour and 21 minutes.

The nearest of the beautiful beaches here is Varsamos or Valsamos Beach between Kallithea and Agios Isidorosou west of Samos. The nearest hotel is Hotel Kresten Palace on 6th km Rodou-Kallitheas and is about one minute from the centre of the town.

Beautiful Marathokabos Town is in the Municipality of Marathokabos in the southwest of Samos. It is small village on an area about 42.8 kilometres southwest of Vathy City and it takes about 59 minutes drive.

Driving to Pythagorio at the southeast of it takes about 47 minutes on a road about 34.9 kilometres long. The nearest coast to it is at its neighbouring villages of Kampos Marathokabos and Ormos Marathokampou at the south.

The first is about 6.8 kilometres; it takes about 6 minutes drive through the second village and the second village is about 4.4 kilometres and it takes 6 minutes drive. Please correct any wrong information here or add to it. Thanks.
