The Municipality of Loutropoli Thermis in the central east part of Lesvos Island extends into 79 square kilometres on the eastern coast and beyond it north of the Municipality of Mytilini.
Thermi is named so because of the beautiful Thermi Springs it has. According to the Greek myth and the archaeological finds, the Greek Goddess Artemis was protector of the springs. See Lesvos springs.
In this regard, there are many mineral springs, all of which are destinations to many people in different towns in Lesvos Island.
The rich nature covers the municipality and the olive trees extend here too. Municipality of Loutropoli Thermis consists of some beautiful towns in Lesvos Island such as Pyrgi Thermis, Thermi, Nees Kydonies, Pigi, Komi, Mystegna and few other hamlets.
The biggest populated towns in the municipality are Loutropoli Thermis, Mistegna, Nees Kydonies and Pigi.
There are 3,809 inhabitants in the municipality and the majority of citizens, more than 912 people live in the seat of the municipality, Loutropoli Thermis.
The seat of the municipality is about 11.8 kilometres at the north of Mytilini and it takes about 16 minutes drive.
The second biggest town in population is Mistegna and there are 625 inhabitants in the town. Mistegna is about 7 kilometres at the northwest of the seat of the municipality and it takes about 8 minutes drive.
The third biggest town in population is Nees Kydonies and there are more than 515 inhabitants in this town. Nees Kydonies is about 11.7 kilometres at the northwest of the seat of the municipality and it takes about 14 minutes drive.
The forth biggest town in population is Pigi and there are 502 inhabitants in the town of Pigi. Pigi is about 7.5 kilometres in the interior west of Loutropoli Thermis and it takes about 10 minutes drive.
The Village of Komi is about 8.8 kilometres west of Loutropoli Thermis and it takes about 12 minutes drive.
The Village of Pyrgi Thermis on the eastern coast is 3.3 kilometres at the southeast of Loutropoli Thermis and it takes about 6 minutes drive.
The Village of Paralia Thermi on the eastern coast is about 2.3 kilometres northeast of Loutropoli Thermis and it takes about 3 minutes drive.
Agios Georgios on the eastern coast is about 3 kilometres at the northeast of Loutropoli Thermis.
Panagia is about 2.2 kilometres at the southeast of Loutropoli Thermis and it takes about 3 minutes drive.
Moni Aghiou Rafail is about 2.1 kilometres at the south of Loutropoli Thermis and it takes about 3 minutes drive.
Petralonia is about 3.1 kilometres at the southeast of Loutropoli Thermis and it takes about 5 minutes drive.
Skala Neon Kydonion on the eastern coast is about 10 kilometres northwest of Loutropoli Thermis and it takes about 12 minutes drive.
However, people could reach some distances between these beautful villages in Lesvos in the interior of Loutropoli Thermis on foot.
